Version 3.5

I am pleased to announce version 3.5 - which adds extensive channel configuration capabilities to RemoteSign ESP!

New in RemoteSign ESP:

  • Ability to define channels. This allows the devices to provide not only extensive new functionality, but also modify the configuration as shipped. See the new {DCH} command
  • Existing channel types have additional functionality:
    • OLED screen can be inverted.
    • OLED screen dimmer can be configured or switched off.
    • OLED screen can be disabled (to free up pins for other uses), and reenabled.
    • Sensors channels can now support up to ten sensors.
    • Sensor pins can be selected.
    • Sensor channel can be removed.
  • New channel types are:
    • Train signal control (with numerous predefined signals, optional internal sensor triggering of signal aspects)
    • Traffic light control (with pedestrian crossing lights, single road or two road, time delays configurable)
    • Light animations (with predefined animations)
    • Monochrome and color (RGB) lighting channels. Each light can also set a maximum brightness so that dimming range can be optimized. Built-in effects are:
      • On
      • Off
      • DOff - turn off with incandescent fade
      • Flash - flash on and off
      • FlashR - flash on and off rapidly
      • Transition - from current brightness to a new brightness
      • Lightning -  simulate lightning flashes and return brightness to original value
      • Flames - simulates flickering flames
      • Fluorescent - simulate the flickering start of a fluorescent light
      • Coals - simulates glowing coals
      • Phone - simulates a cell phone camera flash
      • Camera - simulates a camera flash gun
      • Slag - cooling slag (over 15 minutes)
      • Sunrise -  simulate increasing brightness
      • Sunset -  simulate decreasing brightness
      • TV - simulates the changing light that lights up a room from a TV screen
      • Minutes - switch on and off at intervals specified
      • Seconds - switch on and off at intervals specified
      • RandomM - switch light on and off at random intervals (minutes)
      • RandomS - switch light on and off at random intervals (seconds)
      • Welder - simulate the light from an arc welder including up to three 'strikes' per weld.
    • RemoteSign Server channel (RemoteSign will connect to an external server)
    • Network connection status
  • Generalized auth token exchange system
  • Sound! If combined with a buzzer module, the split-flap display will also produce an audible clicking as the flaps change!
  • New {STATS} command

New in RemoteSign Sequencer:
  • Full support for all the new RemoteSign ESP features above, including easy definition of Traffic light, signals and animations. 
  • Ability to remotely register a RemoteSign.
  • Improved finding of RemoteSigns on the network
  • Numerous small fixes and improvements.
  • Sequencer can be called with a parameter "Compose" to compose RemoteSign commands and place the command on the clipboard. (Version 4.6)
New in RemoteSign Sequencer:
  • Ability to connect to a RemoteSign server
  • Improved searching for other RemoteSign on the network.
New in Arrivals and departures:

  • Arrivals and departures has been updated to use the new token system
  • Numerous small improvements

New on the web site:

  • The SDK has been renamed to the API reference and each RemoteSign command has been given its own page. This allows all the command screens in RemoteSign Sequencer to link directly to every command for quick reference.


Upgrades to registered copies of RemoteSign Windows and RemoteSign Sequencer are free.

RemoteSign ESP devices now require registration to take advantage of the channel configuration capabilities.
